In a piece of comedy that has many asking, "Too soon?" a Saturday Night Life skit over the weekend starring actors playing Kim Kardashian and Kanye West took on the media's coverage of unarmed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin's death. Here's how the Hollywood Reporter described it:
Taran Killiam [reprised] his take on Piers Morgan with a sketch parodying the media coverage of the black Florida teenager's death.
Two celebrity commenters Killam's Morgan brought on the show to discuss the case were new couple Kim Kardashian (Nasim Pedrad) and Kanye West (brilliantly portrayed, again, by Jay Pharaoh).
“I feel for (Martin),” West said. “Maybe it’s just the black man in me.”
Replied Kardashian, “I also know what it feels like to have a black man in me.”
In our view, the skit was harder on West and Kardashian than it was on the media or Trayvon. But can a story as tragic as Trayvon's come anywhere near a punch line without offending? Watch it here and let us know in the comments.
