When there’s something strange in your neighborhood—who you gonna call? Ghostbusters is being rebooted, and it’ll have a lot less testosterone. The new Ghostbusters cast will be an all-woman ensemble, and Saturday Night Live’s Leslie Jones has joined the lineup.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jones and SNL cast mate Kate McKinnon, along with Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig, will star in the reboot. After Jones was hired as an SNL writer, she was quickly promoted to cast member. Since then, she’s already starred on the big screen, in Chris Rock’s Top Five, which scored box-office success.
Last year, before the all-female makeover, the original cast of Ghostbusters was slated to star in the movie. But after negotiations stalled, director Paul Feig decided to go in another direction for the film.
The reboot is slated to begin filming in New York City this summer. There’s been no mention of whether Slimer is returning.
