After weeks of teasing a possible duet with BFF and fellow former Destiny’s Child member Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland has indeed dropped a new collaboration ... and it’s all smoke and mirrors.
No, for real. It’s a collaboration with eyewear brand Smoke x Mirrors. The singer has released a 10-piece, four-frame limited capsule collection, available exclusively at Barneys New York.
Playing on the label’s industrial aesthetic, combined with Rowland’s more glamorous one, each of the collection’s four frames (named “Pony C-IV”) riffs on the classic aviator silhouette, taking the shape into oversized and shield-like proportions. Think Kool Moe Dee. They combine rock and roll details like riveting and paparazzi-proof mirrored lenses with more delicate metal frames.
The shades, crafted in Japan, feature full front nylon lenses and stainless steel frames in a variety of tints and metal finishes. But a date with with Destiny doesn’t come cheap; each of the Smoke + Mirrors x Kelly Rowland frames retails for $345.
Oh, you’re still wondering about that other collab? I wouldn’t hold my breath. The shade of it all!
