It’s been a wild ride for actress Skai Jackson ever since announcing her pregnancy to the world. After months of speculation, Jackson confirmed her and her boyfriend, who goes by “Yerkky Yerkky” on Facebook, are expecting a child together. But here’s where it gets messy.
The couple has been keeping the real identity of Mr. Yerkky under wraps ever since they popped out as an official item earlier this year, but leave it up to the internet detectives to find out his real name is Deondre Burgin. And even with these failed attempts at keeping their relationship private, Jackson and her man just can’t help but make headlines. Here’s what we know.
Yerkky Busted By Police
In a now viral video from social media, Burgin was arrested in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio after a run in with police. The arrest report, obtained by TMZ, reveals cops tried to arrest him on a parole violation warrant, and that’s when he took off running.
The report said Burgin eventually fell, leading police to catch up to him. The video shows Burgin on the ground in handcuffs after police moved to detain him. Since then, he was cited for misdemeanor obstruction of official business and released, according to TMZ.
August Domestic Dispute
The Root reported that Jackson was arrested after Los Angeles police spotted her pushing her man “more than once” in August. This is way before she revealed her pregnancy to the world, but during her arrest, Jackson allegedly told officials she was “pregnant” and “engaged.”
Jackson wasn’t charged for the domestic battery, according to PEOPLE. Her representative told the outlet “Skai is relieved that the investigation revealed that this was nothing more than a misunderstanding. We appreciate that the DA determined very quickly that there should be no charges of any kind.”
Does Yerkky Already Have Kids??
Now, it hasn’t been confirmed, and we all know once social media creates a theory, they’ll just run with it, but there’s been much speculation over if Burgin already has children of his own. Rumors began spreading after a resurfaced video of Jackson’s boyfriend allegedly kissing and hugging his children and suspected first mother of his children went viral.
In the short clip, Burgin is seen in what looks like a jail uniform and hand cuffs saying goodbye to his alleged family. Neither Jackson nor Burgin have spoken on the matter.
Pregnancy Rumors and Annoucement
In her first appearance after the LA domestic dispute, Jackson was spotted by paparazzi on Nov. 1 covering up her stomach. The Disney star was pictured wearing a pink bonnet, matching slippers, shorts, and a huge jacket hiding her belly.
If that wasn’t enough, the day before, Jackson and Burgin were spotted having a heated conversation in public. Whatever they were talking about resulted in Jackson physically in tears. To be expected, with the release of the photos and this video, the internet knew something was up.
On Tuesday (Nov. 12), Jackson revealed to PEOPLE she was pregnant with her first child. Burgin responded through a Facebook post where he wrote “🥰.”
How the Internet Feels About Yerkky
Many online aren’t fond of Jackson’s boyfriend, and can you blame them? From Burgin going live and speaking on Jackson’s deceased “Jessie” co-star, Cameron Boyce, saying “stop comparing me to a dead n***a” to only hours later video of him being arrested by police went viral , to say social media has opinions on Jackson’s boyfriend would be a massive understatement.
On X, user @playboixcarson thinks Jackson’s boyfriend looks like a very recognizable animated character.
Another user, @Missyboo_3, said news of Jackson’s boyfriend “isn’t shocking.”
