Fresh from our "Castration for $1,000, Alex" file, the New York Daily News is reporting that 16 people have been arrested in the gang rape of an 11-year-old girl in the small town of Cleveland, Texas.
At least 16 people, ranging in age from 14 to 27, have been arrested in the past four months. The most recent came Friday, when police busted four high school students. Authorities believe that more arrests are likely. The girl, whose name has not been released because of her age, told police at least 20 people attacked her last Thanksgiving. The vicious assault was caught on camera and video, authorities said.
The attack began when 19-year-old Timothy Ellis lured the girl out of her home and asked if she wanted to go "riding around," according to a police officer's statement obtained by the Houston Chronicle. Cops said he took her to an empty house and forced her to strip under threat of violence. Several other men showed up, and each one raped her.
They then took the child to an abandoned trailer, where they continued to have sex with her, as well as use cell phones to take pictures and record video. The video went viral, which sparked the arrests. The girl's mother says the men knew she was in middle school. A gag order has been put in place, and the family of the victim has been asked to relocate because of the rising tensions.
How about relocating the alleged perpetrators to prison permanently? This is a heinous crime, and it seems that the people in the town should be working to help find who was involved instead of making a bad situation worse by threatening the family of the little girl. I mean, really. What are they mad about? The attackers videotaped and photographed it, so it will be evident who was involved.
This child has survived a nightmare, and now folks get to run her family out of town? Is this Bizzaro World? This story is awful, and the only silver lining is that those who participated and are prosecuted and found guilty will get their comeuppance in prison.
