The mood? Swag. The clothes? Swank. The location? Uptown, baby, as Zendaya and Tommy Hilfiger transformed Harlem’s famed Apollo Theater into their own personal block party for their second collection together since the star became the brand’s global ambassador last fall.

Building on the disco fever the collaboration’s debut set off in Paris this spring, Sunday’s show stuck with a distinctly ’70s vibe, with flare-legged trousers, wide lapels, and knee-high boots dominating the runway. The predominantly black-and-white palette with pops of burgundy was a showcase for pattern-mixing; Tommy x Zendaya is clearly pitching houndstooth, polka dots, and snakeskin this fall. The collection went live as the looks strutted down the catwalk.

And while the collection didn’t feature an all-black cast this round, a diverse crop of models—including Winnie Harlow, Alek Wek, Jo-Ani Johnson and a pregnant Ashley Graham—worked the collection, proving it wearable by women of all ages and sizes...as well as model/dancer Alton Mason, who ensured that 125th Street stayed as soulful as ever.
