Gladiators, rejoice!
Shonda Rhimes is heading back to her alma mater this summer, but not as a student. Rhimes will deliver the main 2014 commencement speech at Dartmouth College, according to Dartmouth’s official blog, Dartmouth Now.
The Golden Globe winner and Emmy Award nominee graduated from the prestigious university in 1991. As an English literature and creative writing major, Rhimes was actively involved in writing fiction and activities related to the theater department. Rhimes also directed Dartmouth’s Black Underground Theatre and Arts Association.
It was this education and experience that laid the groundwork for Rhimes’ successful career in television today. From Grey’s Anatomy to Private Practice and Scandal, Rhimes is a force to be reckoned with in the television industry.
Dartmouth’s commencement will take place June 8. One has to wonder how many gladiators will be in the audience.
