A new river has formed in the United States. The name of it is the White Tears River, and it's filled with the tears of white people who feel that Jesse Williams' recent BET Awards speech was racist.
While crying their tears, these people even took time out to start a petition to remove the actor from Grey's Anatomy.
The petition is titled, "Sign the petition to fire Jesse Williams from Grey's Anatomy for racist rant," and was created by "Erin Smith," which is probably a fake name because who'd want the world to know he or she was really a jackass?
The petition states:
Jesse Williams spewed a racist, hate speech against law enforcement and white people at the BET awards. If this was a white person making the same speech about an African American, they would have been fired and globally chastised, as they should be, but there has been no consequences to Williams' actions. There's been no companies making a stand against his racist remarks and no swift action condemning his negative attitude. Why was Burke's character fired from Grey's Anatomy after his inappropriate homophobic slur, but nothing for Jesse Williams? Why the one-way street? Why the support for a hater? Why the hypocrisy? #AllLivesMatter All humans bleed the same color. #EqualConsequences4RacistBehavior
Shonda Rhimes got wind of the petition and sent out a simple response to it on Twitter:
Even with over 2,000 signatures, Smith's petition doesn't mean diddly-squat.
