If you’ve seen the trailer for Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Dumbo, you likely caught a glimpse of a very (very) familiar face. Indeed, child actress Nico Parker gives new meaning to the phrase “mini-me,” her radiant little face the spitting image of her famous mother, Thandie Newton.
The now 14-year-old Parker and Newton took their twinning moment to the red carpet on Sunday night, appearing at Dumbo’s Hollywood premiere in coordinating velvet dresses and natural curls styled by Nai’vasha Johnson, who also cultivates the manes of Yara Shahidi, Danai Gurira, Serena Williams, Janelle Monae and Indya Moore.
The duo was styled by Jason Bolden (who styles Shahidi, Janet Mock and Taraji P. Henson and Ava DuVernay), Newton in a strapless burgundy cocktail dress by Oscar de la Renta with jewels by Neil Lane, and Parker in age-appropriate olive and pink Gucci. Posting on Instagram, Newton was every bit the proud mama celebrating her daughter’s first film, thanking her team “for helping me look like the Mama she deserves to have”—as if she herself isn’t a well-established red-carpet slayer.
From the looks of Nico, it runs in the family.
