A Michigan man who suffers from a rare disorder didn't think anything of the selfie he posted to his Instagram account until NBA great Shaquille O'Neal made fun of it. The oversized jokester posted a photo to his Instagram account mocking Jahmel Binion's photo. Binion has ectodermal dysplasia, a condition characterized by a reduced ability to sweat, missing teeth and abnormal hair growth.
"I was hurt," Binion told FOX 2. "Why is he making fun of me when he is supposed to be this role model."
Binion told the news station that he was shocked that the ex-NBA center made fun of him since he looks up to him but added that he's been getting teased his whole life. Shaq wasn't the only one to cyber-bully Binion, Utah Jazz point guard Trey Burke and rapper Waka Flocka Flame also joined in on the social media teasing.
Binion told the news station that people had begun recognizing him from the picture posted on Shaquille O'Neal's Instagram account. The picture has since been taken down.
"I can't let it get to me or I get hurt and depressed … so I keep my mind high and positive."
Binion says that the online taunts inspired him to start an anti-bullying campaign called Hug Don't Judge.
"Rather than bully that person," Binion said, "go up and show them that you are different [from] everybody else."
