Whatever Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour's intentions were in suspending the life sentences of the infamous Scott sisters, who were imprisoned after being convicted as accomplices in an armed robbery that netted $11, the outcome is the same. Jamie and Gladys Scott were officially released from prison today.
"They're feeling great. This is beautiful," their attorney, Chokwe Lumumba, told AOL News. One stipulation of the women's release is that Gladys donate one of her kidney's to Jamie, who is on dialysis. Lumumba called the stipulation "a little barbaric" but said that Gladys would have done it without the mandate. Now, he said, the women need to find the money to pay for the operation.
