I've long admired Russell Simmons for the way he's been screaming from the mountaintops for years about how everyone ought to be meditating on a daily basis. He wants everyone—particularly those in his own community, African Americans—to live more consciously, clearly and in the moment.

During one of his moments of meditation, he was overcome by how grateful he is for his ex-wife and the mother of his children, Kimora Lee Simmons (who still uses his last name).

In an Instagram message posted Wednesday, he thanked her for his blended family, which includes the two children she went on to have with two partners after her marriage to Simmons ended in 2009. He even spoke about how grateful he is to have her new husband, Tim Leissner, in his life.

"This morning's meditation made me reflect on just how lucky I am. I feel incredibly close to my best friend Kimora Leissner and her amazing spouse and now my business partner, Tim Leissner," he wrote.

He expressed gratitude for the boy Kimora had with actor Djimon Hounsou, too: "I also feel very close to the father of one of the kids I love the most in the world (Kenzo Lee)Djimon Hounsou," he wrote.

"Thank you KIMORA LEE FOR BEING A STRONG, STRONG EXAMPLE OF EXCELLENCE. You are the best mother on the planet. YOU 'PUT THIS THING TOGETHER'," he finished.
