First Tory Lanez’s daddy, Sonstar Peterson, insisted that Roc Nation will “crumble” after Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. Then, Nicki Minaj blamed the entertainment company—founded by Jay Z—for Meg’s diss track “Hiss” alleging that they’re targeting her in a smear campaign.
Now, M.I.A has said that when she was fighting for her son Roc Nation didn’t help her despite her pleas (it was her management company during a point in her career). In a bizarre social media rant on X/Twitter, the “Paper Planes” singer shared her frustrations pertaining to custody of her child.
“Biden won’t let me see my child,” she wrote in all-caps next to a screenshot in all-caps alongside a screenshot showing that she cannot obtain a U.S. visa due to “her past behaviour.” “The longest processing is ment [sic] to be 2 months and it’s already been that. ... I have to wait till a Republican wins. Wow.”
M.I.A., who dated and had a child with Benjamin Bronfman, then brought up an interesting conspiracy involving him and Roc Nation: “MY FIRST CUSTODY BATTLE WAS 2O13. MY CHILD WAS FOUR. I WAS MANAGED BY JAYZ. WHO ULTIMATELY WAS PAID BY BRONFMANS,” she wrote.
The artist shared a screenshot of a Wikipedia article about the NXIUM cult, which named two of Bronfman’s cousins as their leaders. M.I.A. stated:
“BE VERY CLEAR WHY MY MATHANGI RECORD WAS BURIED IN 2013. I SACRIFICED MY CAREER FOR MY CHILD. THEY RIPPED ME OFF AND COPIED MY STYLE AND GAVE IT TO THEIR PUPPETS AND SHADOW BANNED ME ON EVERY PLATFORM. BUT IT WAS WORTH IT TO SAVE HIM FROM THE MADNESS OF WHAT YOU KNOW NOW.”
She also blamed Jay for not helping her when she needed it.:
“THE DAY I WAS SERVED, 4 MY CHILD, ROCK [sic] NATION STOPPED ALL COMMUNICATION WITH ME AND ALL MY EMAILS TO JAYZ ASKING FOR HELP WAS WIPED FROM MY INBOX. MY WAS BROKEN INTO AND EVERY LAP WAS TAKEN. I WAS TRAPPED IN BROOKLYN ON ORDER SERVED THAT RESTRICTED ME LEAVING BKLYN FOR 15 YEARS.”
M.I.A also stated that she wishes her child had a different father. Clearly she’s going through it, but we’re not sure how effective a rant like this will actually be.
