Popular Good Morning America host has reached a turning point following a bone marrow transplant in her battle against the rare blood disorder myelodysplastic syndrome: She just passed the 100-day milestone, the Daily News reports. That means her immune system is strong enough to reunite with K.J., her loyal Jack Russell terrier.
The 52-year-old, who tweeted continually about her countdown to day 100, is not slated to return to the anchor chair until May.
On Saturday, she posted a photo of herself in a Santa Claus cap wearing Angry Birds pajamas holding a calendar — and K.J. came home soon after.
"Look who made it back for my 100 day celebration…KJ!!," Roberts wrote to her 417,379 followers on Twitter, posting a photo of the two together again. "We just keep staring at each (other)..can't believe she's finally home.
"KJ already feeling right at home," she added. "So happy to have the lil girl back."
The news of the happy reunion comes as celebrity gossip site TMZ reported Roberts will not return to "Good Morning America" until mid-May.
"Doctors are pleased with her progress and say she's right on schedule, but that schedule puts her on the bench for five or six months … something she's not crazy about but realizes is necessary," reported TMZ.
