Let social media tell it, Aaron Von Rock and his wife, Jasmine, look like the perfect New York City couple. But despite the picture-perfect social media posts, their marriage hit the fan after Jasmine accused her husband of trying to kill her.
The criminal complaint filed against Von Rock alleges he attacked his wife in their Murray Hill apartment back in May. After the incident occurred, Jasmine called police saying “my husband tried to kill me.” Authorities arrived to the scene to find Jasmine with multiple stab wounds on her hand, leg, and foot.
Despite Jasmine’s plea, Von Rock was only charged with assault with intent to cause serious injury with a weapon, according to court records. The 55-year-old appeared in court on Aug. 7, where Judge Marva Brown kept in place a temporary order of protection, keeping Von Rock away from Jasmine.
Following the judge’s ruling, the wealthy Manhattan sommelier “briefly smirked while leaving the courtroom,” according to the New York Post.
The Von Rocks got engaged back in 2016. On Instagram, Von Rock posted two photos of himself and his wife. Even though it’s clear Von Rock isn’t very active on social media, the same cannot be said for his wife.
Up until this year, Jasmine was extremely active on X, with many of her posts even alluding to ongoing troubles within her marriage to Von Rock. She once wrote in January 2023, “#LifeTip if you’re going to cheat on your partner, do not to start fights/arguments with them for no reason.” She continued saying, “Be old school and give your partner money and gifts to ‘hide’ your deceitful ways.”
Von Rock has a well-established career in New York City’s wine industry. He worked as a sommelier at Telepan in Manhattan, where he earned Wine Spectator’s ‘Best of Award of Excellence’ in 2007. Von Rock was most notably the wine director at the Michelin star-rated restaurant Benno.
He is set to appear in court again on Sept. 30. Von Rock has pleaded not guilty to the assault charge.
