Just in time for Domestic Violence Awareness Month, pop superstar Rihanna is speaking out about her forgiveness of Chris Brown. In 2009 the two were embroiled in a high-profile domestic violence case. Chris Brown was ordered to serve five years of probation after pleading guilty to felony assault for the attack on Rihanna in the early-morning hours before the 2009 Grammys. Brown, whose career stalled after the incident and subsequent conviction, has now regained his footing in the industry with the success of his latest album, F.A.M.E.

Rihanna says that she resented Chris Brown for a time but has put that behind her and is happy that her former boyfriend has found success in music again. Rihanna tells Esquire that disliking Brown "was taking up too much of my time" and that she has moved on from that.

"It was too much anger," the 23-year-old said. "I'm really excited to see the breakthrough he's had in his career."

Perhaps time does heal all wounds? Perhaps Rihanna is mature beyond her years? Rihanna consciously refusing to allow someone to steal her joy or her future is pretty impressive.
