Journalist Charlie Spiering is out today with a new book that paints a less-than-flattering picture of Vice President Kamala Harris. In “Amateur Hour: Kamala Harris in the White House Washington,” Spiering claims Harris’ is causing tension in the Biden administration and that the real reason Joe Biden decided to run for a second term is because “Kamala is not up to the job.”

According to Spiering, Biden’s issues with Harris include her “refusal to be a team player” and “bullying” of White House staff, which have led to a string of staff resignations. All of that, he writes, plays into the president’s concern that she is the person who is just a heartbeat away from the Oval Office.

And while other news outlets have reported on dissension in the the VP’s office, it’s important to note that Spiering was a political writer for the Washington Examiner before moving to Breitbart, where he worked as a White House correspondent covering the last three administrations – so he’s probably not the biggest fan of the Biden-Harris administration.

In his book, Spiering describes Harris as “a hilarious, incompetent, trailblazing radical” who suffered “disastrous and comical first years as vice president.” He writes that Biden’s actual first choice for running mate in 2020 was Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer, while the first lady was rooting for former Obama national security advisor Susan Rice instead of Harris for the VP spot. And as you can probably imagine, the Fox News crowd is ready to pick up everything he’s putting down, publishing an oped he wrote promoting his book and describing the VP as not up for the job.

No matter how you feel about VP Harris, it’s no coincidence that this book, coming out smack dab in the middle of the Republican primary season, is describing the country’s first Black female VP (who happens to be a Democrat) as difficult. But to imply that a former District Attorney who represented California in the United States Senate where she served on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence is not qualified for the job of Vice President is laughable.
