Tracee Ellis Ross is one of Hollywood’s most respected funny ladies. From “Girlfriends,” to “Black-ish,” she’s carved a path separate from her famous mother, Diana Ross and made her own name in the business.
The 51-year-old actress frequently posts fun photos and videos of her adventures, including topless photos showcasing her body. Because she’s a successful Black woman who unapologetically enjoys her life, there are those on the internet who always have something to say about her.
Recently, a resurfaced topless photo of the “American Fiction” star sent social media into a frenzy, as some felt a woman her age shouldn’t be sharing pictures like this. No one ever seems to mind when good looking men in their 50s show off their six packs, but it’s a problem for a woman to celebrate her beauty.
In the comments of Spiritual World’s post of the photo, one person wrote, “Aren’t y’all older women supposed to be setting the example? Put your shirt back on! The hell is this,”
However, someone on X pointed out the sexist nature of the reactions, writing, “Tracee Ellis Ross, is proof that men and patriarchy princesses cannot fathom a woman who chose to not have kids or get married is living her life. According to them, whatever she’s doing is for the attention of men and an indication of loneliness. A useless bunch”
One consistent complaint is that Ross is a role model and should act accordingly, with one user posting, “We all know she has a bang body & she knows that too but posting thirst traps at her age is a degenerate behaviour if we’re being honest here. She’s a role model & should act like one ffs, let’s think about the future of black kids y’all.”
Y’all seriously need to take a breath, go outside and touch grass if you think a topless photo of an actress is going to ruin the future of Black children. If anything, Tracee’s pride in her body empowers Black women and girls to appreciate their beauty in its full form.
Another person noted that Tracee’s mother has been a beauty icon for decades, so why would her daughter view age the way everyone else does, writing on X, “Posting 1-3-year-old photos of Tracee Ellis Ross living her fabulous life on her Instagram to slut shame and project insecurities onto her is weird. Tracee’s mother, Diana Ross, was in her late 40s walking for Thierry Mugler, STILL showing skin. Tracee, like many other people, does not view nudity the same way others do. Nudity is a form of art.”
As many of her supporters stated, “We will not tolerate Tracee Ellis Ross slander.” She is a woman who has done nothing but entertain and uplift her community. We’re not about to stand by and let a bunch of sexist internet trolls tell her what she can and cannot do with her beautiful Black body.
