A 51-year-old Fort Worth, Texas, man was taken into custody over the weekend after he allegedly choked a female relative and opened fire on responding officers, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Larry Trees is facing charges of assault on a family member and two counts of attempted capital murder in the incident, which took place Saturday.
According to the report, officers were responding to a domestic call around 3:30 a.m. Saturday when they were greeted by a man armed with a shotgun. Seconds later, the man shot at both officers, officials say.
Authorities returned fire as Trees retreated into his home. As SWAT members arrived on the scene, Trees and a woman—whose relationship to Trees is unknown—walked out of the home, surrendering, authorities say.
No one was injured in the gunfire.
According to the report, Trees was being held at the Mansfield Jail as of Sunday in lieu of $65,000 bail.
