Updated July 24, 11:54 a.m. EDT: Hulk Hogan has issued an apology via People magazine:

Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it. This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise. I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs.

Earlier:

As a kid, I was a Hulkamaniac. Every Saturday morning, my brother and I would sit and watch the WWF (now WWE) and become mesmerized by Terry Bollea, aka Hulk Hogan. But apparently the Hogan has a few racist skeletons in his closet that are about to be unleashed upon the world. World Wrestling Entertainment has already waged a pre-emptive dissociation from Hogan by scrubbing his every mention from its site.

“On WWE.com, Hogan is no longer listed on the WWE Hall of Fame page, and all of his merchandise has also been removed from WWEShop.com. The only thing currently remaining that mentions Hogan involves WWE’s upcoming Australian tour, which Hogan was scheduled to take part in as general manager. However, when any attempt to access this page is made, a message appears stating ‘you are not authorized to access this page,’” wrestling site Wrestling News Source noted.

On Friday morning the WWE confirmed that it had severed ties with Hogan.

So what exactly did Hogan say?

According to RadarOnline and the National Enquirer, Hogan’s racist tirade came during a 2012 sex tape with the wife of a former friend. Hogan, who is currently suing Gawker over the release of the tape, went on a rant when he discovered that his daughter Brooke was dating a black man.

“She is making some real bad decisions now,” Hulk said on the tape. “My daughter Brooke jumped sides on me. I spent $2-to-3 million on her music career; I’ve done everything like a jackass for her.

“I don’t know if Brooke was f—king the black guy’s son,” Hulk said regarding a black music producer who offered to fund Brooke’s music career. “I mean, I don’t have double standards. I mean, I am a racist, to a point, f—king n—gers. But then when it comes to nice people and s—t, and whatever.”

But he wasn’t finished. The wrestler went on to say exactly what type of n-word he’d rather she be with.

“I mean, I’d rather, if she was going to f—k some n—ger, I’d rather have her marry an 8-foot-tall n—ger worth $100 million! Like a basketball player! I guess we’re all a little racist. F—king n—ger,” the racist wrestler lamented.

Apparently Hogan knew what was coming down the pike this morning, because he asked God to help him on Twitter:

And God replied:

“Too late, you racist jabroni. God is a fan of the Rock.”

Well, no, he actually didn’t … but still. After work today, I will be burning my Hulk Hogan bandanna. I am no longer a Hulkamaniac. Childhood ruined.
