A 9-year-old girl left her purse on the bathroom-stall door at the Georgia Square Mall in Athens last Friday. When the girl and her sister returned to the restroom to retrieve the purse, she spotted 25-year-old Tamaranesha Burden leaving with what appeared to be her phone. The girl's purse was still there, but her money and phone were gone.

According to 11 Alive, the girl and her sister told their father, who confronted Burden. The woman then entered a store, and the girls' father alerted the store manager about his suspicions. The manager found the phone in the pocket of a pair of jeans on display, according to the news station.

Police arrived soon after and Burden was arrested on "theft by taking charge."

According to the news station, police found a large sum of money in Burden's purse, which Burden's cousin claims was from a cashed tax-return check. Police also found $36 in a different section of the purse.
