Bobby Brown has filed for guardianship over Bobbi Kristina Brown's estate, according to the New York Daily News. Bobbi Kristina, 22, had been in a medically induced coma since Jan. 31, but earlier this month, Brown and members of grandmother Cissy Houston’s family reported that she was awake. However, despite those reports, Houston has told the media that Bobbi Kristina has irreversible brain damage.
“I have just returned from visiting my granddaughter Bobbi Kristina in the hospital, and while she is no longer in a medically induced coma, she has a tracheotomy and, according to the doctors, she has global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive,” Houston said in a statement to the Daily News last week.
“Meeting with the doctors and understanding that she can live in this condition for a lifetime truly saddens me,” Houston continued.
If granted guardianship, Brown would have control over Bobbi Kristina’s medical needs and financial matters. But it seems as though Houston is going to do everything she can to stop the guardianship from happening.
David W. Long, her attorney, released this statement: “This is a family matter involving sensitive information. We hope to resolve this in a manner that is respectful of Bobbi Kristina’s sensitive health information. The Houston family has always looked out for the best interest of Bobbi Kristina Brown. The family has done so all of her life and will continue to do so. We trust that others have the same objective.”
