For Democratic congressman John Conyers, the drama of the 2006 baby-sitting ethics scandal must seem like a walk in the park compared with the heartbreak of seeing his wife report to federal prison. Today, ex-Detroit council member Monica Conyers began a 37-month sentence for corruption at a minimum-security camp in Alderson, W.Va. It's the same place Martha Stewart did time for charges relating to a stock-trading scandal.
In 2009 Monica Conyers pleaded guilty to taking bribes, although she is currently trying to retract that plea.
