Since her release from prison in 2014, “All the Way Up” rapper Remy Ma has gone to great lengths to rehabilitate her image. She’s become invaluable to VH1's Love & Hip-Hop empire, she’s joined husband Papoose in becoming the unofficial brand ambassadors for “Black Love,” and she co-hosts the popular talk show State of the Culture with Joe Budden, Scottie Beam and Brandon “Jinx” Jenkins on Revolt TV.

But if shocking reports that she assaulted Brittney Taylor—her Love & Hip-Hop: New York co-star—are true, the 38-year-old’s efforts to move beyond her violent past could all be for naught.

TMZ reports that Remy is being accused of punching Taylor in the eye during the Pretty Lou Benefit Concert on April 16 at New York City’s Irving Plaza—an accusation Taylor confirmed herself in a subsequent video she posted to her 315,000 Instagram followers.

“I didn’t wanna bring it to social media because Its pretty embarrassing and not a good look tbh,” she wrote in the post’s caption, showcasing a clearly visible black eye. “I tried to cover it up with make up and move on but that still didn’t work. My Question is @remyma why did you really do this?”

In TMZ’s report, Taylor claims words were exchanged backstage in the concert’s greenroom prior to Remy assaulting her. The impetus of their strife was reportedly an attack that occurred weeks ago on Remy’s stepdaughter, Dejanae.

After seeking treatment at a nearby hospital, Taylor reported the incident to authorities, triggering an investigation by the New York City Police Department. No charges have been filed and no arrests have been made, but Taylor has hired attorney Sanford Rubenstein and intends to prosecute, according to New York Daily News.

If Taylor’s allegations are proven to be true, Remy could be in some serious trouble. After serving six years in prison for a 2007 attempted murder charge, she’s currently on parole.
