Months after rapper Killer Mike was shockingly arrested moments after winning a Grammy for Best Rap Album—as well as Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance—it seems his legal issues are now resolved.

Back in February, the “Scientists & Engineers” rapper was taken into custody following an encounter with event security. Video of him being escorted out of the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles quickly circulated online, prompting outrage and confusion from people wanting to know exactly what went down. (Because let’s be real: getting hauled off in cuffs after a three-sweep Grammy win and being booked on a misdemeanor charge is definitely cause for bewilderment.)

Not too long after the kerfuffle, Mike (legally Michael Render) put out a statement explaining that the incident was caused by an “overzealous security guard” and expressed that he would be cleared of any wrongdoing. According to senior law enforcement’s statement to Rolling Stone, the security guard alleged she was injured during her confrontation with the rapper because he allegedly trying to make his way around her station without clearance.

Per Rolling Stone on February 5th:

The guard told police she asked for Render’s tickets and directed him to a security checkpoint. At this point, she claims Render tried to make his way around her, and when she “ran around and got in front of him again,” he allegedly “pushed her to the ground,” the source said. The female guard allegedly suffered an injury to her hand and fingers, the well-placed LAPD source said. The woman called for help, and her fellow security officers surrounded Render outside the arena and called police, the source said. The guard received medical treatment, signed a citizen’s arrest for misdemeanor battery and had photos taken of her alleged injuries.

Mike’s statement did mention there was “a lot going on” and there being “some confusion around which door my team and I should enter,” but he made no mention of allegedly getting physical with the guard.

Now, it seems as if it’s all a thing of the past as TMZ reports that Mike will not face charges, citing that prosecutors in the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office have declined to file.

In a statement from Ivor Pine, a spokesperson for the L.A. City Attorney’s Office, he clarified: “Mr. Render has successfully completed the Office’s Hearing process, including a community service requirement that was imposed. We have no further comment at this time.”
