Relationship expert and advice columnist Deborrah Cooper has called out the black church in conspiring to keep black women single. In her manifesto, which tells it like it t-i-is, Cooper says that black male preachers use the church to communicate to black women that someone will magically appear. Cooper believes that black women put too much faith in black men and the black church and should abandon them, looking out for themselves and their children. She's got a point about gender roles and the black church, but not all single black women are cultural dupes or lonely as she suggests. Perhaps we're misinformed, but we thought that a relationship included two people, not one.
