The criminally underrated Regina Hall has finally been recognized by one major organization: the New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC). The organization recently held their Circle Awards ceremony on Monday night and Hall took home the Best Actress honor for her role in indie darling Support The Girls.

Hall made history as the first black woman to be honored with the lead award from NYFCC. (Editor’s note: She also wore black woman designer Cushnie and makeup from black woman-owned brand Danessa Myricks to accept her award.)

Along with being honored with her new award, Hall joked about something we’ve all noticed: She’s always getting mistaken for Regina King.

“I hope she wins [more awards], because people get us confused and I get all the perks,” the 47-year-old quipped in her acceptance speech, per People. “Seriously, they’re like ‘Here’s a gift certificate for Regina King, for $5,000 for Barney’s’ and I’m just like, ‘I’m her!’ They’re like, ‘We love you Ms. King!’ I’m like, ‘Thank you.’

“So let’s hope she wins that Oscar ’cause God knows what I’ll get … I’ll get a car! So congratulations to her for being phenomenal,” she added.

Hilarious. Also, loving the support of her fellow black sister peer, because we really are all we got.

King was also honored by the NYFCC that night, taking home the Best Supporting Actress award for If Beale Street Could Talk. King recently took home the Golden Globe for her portrayal, as well.

I’m personally glad for this win because Hall’s name really needs to come up in more conversations regarding true talent. She’s hilarious as fuck and has range, darling!

In all seriousness, two Reginasspecifically black onescan exist and flourish at the same damn time. They can and they will. So, get ready. They’re comin’ for their things.
