If you didn't tune in to the 2011 Golden Globes Awards last night, here's your quick-and-dirty recap.
Idris Elba was nominated for his performance in Luther in the category best performance by an actor in a miniseries or motion picture made for television. But he lost to Al Pacino for his performance in You Don't Know Jack.
Halle Berry was nominated for her performance in Frankie and Alice in the category of best performance by an actress in a motion picture drama. But she lost to Natalie Portman for her performance in Black Swan.
The Social Network won for best motion picture, drama, and HBO's Boardwalk Empire won for best TV drama series.
Comedian Ricky Gervais pulled no punches as host, making jokes about just about everyone who crossed the stage. (See his opening monologue here.) Robert De Niro won the Lifetime Achievement Award and also gave an awkward acceptance speech: "I'm sorry more members of the foreign press aren't with us tonight, but many were deported right before the show, along with most of the waiters."
