Monday evening, rap mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was arrested in New York City on a laundry list of federal charges including not exclusive to sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. If you thought the allegations were bad, trust me, they’re worse.

The arrest comes months after Diddy’s mansions were raided in a federal sex trafficking probe stemming from scathing allegations in a series of lawsuit. The main whistleblower was his ex-girlfriend/singer Casandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura, who accused the rapper of sexual and physical domestic abuse. Following that, a flood of legal claims came in against the mogul from previous colleagues and former protégée’s alleging they were also witnesses and victims to Combs’ abuse of power.

Homeland Security Investigations officials detained Combs in Manhattan in the lobby of a hotel, per NBC New York. In response to the newly revealed charges, Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, said he and his client were “disappointed” in the decision to pursue charges against Combs - which he described as “unjust prosecution.” He also stated his client was an “imperfect” individual but not criminal.

“To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court,” said the attorney in a statement.

Federal prosecutors are seeking to keep Combs in pre-trial detention upon the pending investigation.
