Ray Lewis, former star of the Baltimore Ravens, has a few issues with the Black Lives Matter movement, but it seems his issues stem from a lack of understanding about black-on-black crime.

The former football player posted a video on his Facebook page about the recent upsurge in violence in Chicago.
โWhy do we always find ourselves half the victims, and now we have the separation once again that weโre being victimized because of one bad white cop, two bad white cops, three bad white cops, killing a young black brother. But every day we have black-on-black crime, killing each other? The March murder rate rose by 29 percent, but weโre not rioting in the streets [about] black on black killing each other,โ Lewis said in the video.
Well, just because Lewis isnโt โrioting in the streetsโ about black-on-black crime doesnโt mean others arenโt. Itโs quite ironic for Lewis to talk about black-on-black crime, especially since he was found to be indirectlyย involved in a homicide.
But thatโs neither here nor there.
Youโd have to be living in the dark, like Lewis, apparently, to think that people arenโt out here crusading against black-on-black crime. And when it comes to statistics, black people involved in these crimes are often prosecuted and convicted of serious chargesโwell, except for Lewis, of course.
Raising the whole specter of black-on-black crime in an attempt to disagree with what Black Lives Matter activists are fighting for is not only lazy in terms of thinking but also highlights the fact that some of these people crying about it arenโt doing anything about it themselves. Except for posturing on the Internet. Maybe they were too busy getting rid of their own evidence linked to a homicide back in the day to even realize they were part of the problem theyโre so worried about now.
