Sunday was the day of yet another red-carpet event, for yet another award show. Whenever these shows happen, there's bound to be a reporter making a fool of him- or herself. Sunday night during the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet, Rashida Jones, who stars in Parks and Recreation, had to let a reporter know about her skin color.

"You look like you've just come off an island or something," TNT's Danielle Demski told Jones. "You're very tan. Very tropical."

It's hilarious that Demski obviously forgot that Jones, whose father is the legendary Quincy Jones and mother is white actress Peggy Lipton, is actually biracial, hence the melanin in her skin. Lucky for Demski, Rashida handled the statement pretty well.

"I mean, you know, I'm ethnic," Rashida Jones stated.

And here comes J.D. Heyman, the co-reporter, in the background, saying that he's ethnic, too.

Here's a tip, white America: If you're not quite sure what someone's background is, it's probably best not to comment on how tanned his or her skin is. Chances are it's the person's natural melanin.
