Atlanta MC Slim Dunkin, who was a part of rapper Waka Flocka’s “Brick Squad,” was murdered outside an Atlanta studio last night.

Police Maj. Keith Meadows said the performer, whose real name is Mario Hamilton, was fatally shot in the chest around 5:30 p.m. He was then rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“It appears the victim was scheduled to do a photo shoot,” Meadows told the Associated Press. “Before the video shoot took place, it appears the victim and suspect got involved in a verbal altercation. We don’t know what that altercation was about.”

The news quickly spread on Twitter as numerous rappers and producers began tweeting about the loss of the rising Atlanta rapper.

“RIP TO MY N[—-]A DUNK,” wrote Brick Squad Monopoly member Wooh Da Kid.

Police have not recovered the gun used in the slaying. Close to 20 people were in the small building at the time of Dunkin’s death.

No suspects have been named in the murder.
