MC Supreme, best known for his single “Black in America,” was killed Sunday after a car crash in Malibu, Calif., according to the Associated Press.
According to reports, the rapper and a woman were sitting in his car on the shoulder of the Pacific Coast Highway when it was hit by a pickup truck.The car rolled into an embankment along the beach. The rapper, whose real name was Dewayne Coleman, was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries. Philip Torries II, 34, was arrested after the crash on suspicion of DUI and vehicular-manslaughter charges.
Coleman’s music and life’s work were geared toward anti-violence, and he was working with teens in the Los Angeles area to steer them away from gangs.
