The manager of popular Chicago rapper Lil Durk was shot and killed early Friday as he sat in a parked car on Chicago’s South Side, just hours after meeting with Chicago Bulls star Joakim Noah about the athlete’s anti-violence initiative, according to Homicide Watch Chicago.
The incident occurred when Uchenna Agina—known as Chino Dolla and OTF Chino—was sitting in a car in the 8400 block of South Stony Island Avenue when an unknown gunman walked up and began firing about 1:50 a.m. Friday, the report says.
A friend drove him to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where the South Side resident died less than an hour later, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Lil Durk, 22, born Durk Derrick Banks in Chicago, is signed to Def Jam Records. Agina on Thursday reportedly accompanied the rapper and DJ Bandz to Noah’s Downtown Chicago condominium to discuss the athlete’s Rock Your Drop anti-violence campaign, according to DJ Bandz’ manager, Devin Jackson, the report says.
Hours later, Agina was dead. Noah declined to comment through a Bulls representative.
The investigation continues as police search for suspects and try to determine a motive in the fatal shooting.
The publication writes that Devin Jackson, 23, met Agina on Tuesday at a photo shoot for Lil Durk’s upcoming album, Remember My Name. Jackson tells the news site that they hung out again on Wednesday at an art show.
He said that Agina was a behind-the-scenes guy and called him “humble,” the report says.
