Maybe you should not expect any new music from rapper Lil Durk anytime soon. Or any concert appearances, for that matter.

Earlier this week, the Chicago rapper, born Durk Banks, was hit with two new charges relating to the murder-for-hire plot he was arrested for last month.

According to the United States Attorney’s office, he was charged with “one count of conspiracy, one count of use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death, and one count of using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun and possession of such firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.”

Durk has also been added as the lead defendant in the previous indictment that included five members of Only the Family (OTF), Durk’s crew.

Last month, Durk was arrested by U.S. Marshals and booked into a Florida jail on murder-for-hire charges, according to WGNTV. Earlier the same day, five members of OTF, Durk’s crew, were indicted on federal charges related to a plan to kill rapper Quando Rondo in August 2022.

More from the Chicago Sun-Times:

The indictment was unsealed Thursday in the U.S. Central District Court of California. It charges Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey and Asa Houston with conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death, committing murder-for-hire involving a death and use of a machine gun in a violent crime resulting in death.

Following the fatal shooting of Chicago rapper King Von in November 2022, a “co-conspirator,” who was unnamed in the original indictment, allegedly offered payment and future musical opportunities with OTF to anyone who was able to successfully kill Quando Rondo, who is from Atlanta, where King Von was fatally shot.

The indictment claims that in August 2022, Wilson recruited Jones, Linsdey, and Houston to come to California after learning that Rondo was staying at a hotel in Los Angeles. Grant, the fifth man who was indicted Thursday, allegedly provided the firearms and on August 18, the group waited outside of Rondo’s hotel until he came out.

According to the Sun-Times, they allegedly followed Rondo, who was a passenger in another vehicle, as he traveled around the city to visit multiple stores. When Rondo’s vehicle stopped at a gas station, three of the conspirators got out of their car and fired multiple shots at the vehicle Rondo was in.

Although Rondo was not hit, his cousin, 24-year-old Saviay’a Robinson, was shot to death.

Durk, 32, is among the pioneers of the Chicago-originated “Drill” rap subgenre. Drill is known for its exceedingly blurry lines between gang-affiliated violent lyrics and actual gang street violence.
