Last September, Kevin Gates kicked a female concert attendee during a concert held at Club Rumor in Lakeland, Fla. Eighteen-year-old Miranda Dixon said that she reached out to touch Gates, but the third time, he kicked her in the chest.
Gates was charged with battery by the Lakeland Police Department, and on Wednesday he was sentenced to six months in jail.
During his trial, Gates said, he kicked the woman in self-defense because she was trying to touch him. But video footage showed that he continued to perform when other people attempted to do the same thing. Gates previously tried to use Florida's "Stand your ground" law as his defense.

Gates' trial lasted only one day, and his jury consisted of six women.
