Big Sean is no stranger to giving back to his community. Earlier this year, the rapper launched #HelpFlintKids on CrowdRise and kicked off the fundraising effort with a $10,000 donation. Now he's reaching out to college students at Wayne State University, in his hometown of Detroit. The rapper's Sean Anderson Foundation made a $25,000 donation to the school to help its HIGH (Helping Individuals Go Higher) Program.
HIGH was created three years ago to help “financially stressed students at Wayne State University reach their goal to graduate” by providing “housing support, textbooks and other school supplies, clothing, transportation, and child-care assistance.”
In a statement to Daily Detroit, the foundation’s president and Sean's mom, Myra Anderson, said, “We see the HIGH Program as an important component of ensuring success at Wayne State, and we are proud to help strengthen its mission. We aim to boost graduation rates at the university by providing support to students facing hardships."
