Rapper Earl Hayes reportedly shot and killed his wife, actress and dancer Stephanie Moseley, before turning the gun on himself in what TMZ is calling a jealousy-fueled rage after he heard rumors that Moseley might have been cheating on him.
According to KTLA, officers were called to the Palazzo East apartments, a high-end apartment complex in Los Angeles, around 7:30 a.m. Monday after receiving reports of a woman screaming and gunshots. Police, who responded with a full SWAT team, decided to enter the apartment from which the screams could be heard, according to Los Angeles Police Department Capt. Ron Leslie, who spoke with the news station.
Once inside the apartment, officers notice a closed back-bedroom door. The officers attempted to open the door and heard two more gunshots, according to KTLA.
The SWAT team later entered the room and found the bodies of Hayes, 34, and Moseley, 30.
Moseley starred in the VH1 show Hit the Floor. According to TMZ, Hayes, who was a close associate of boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., may have actually been talking with Mayweather on FaceTime when the shooting occurred.
Family and friends were devastated to hear the news and said that they knew the married couple were having problems but never thought that it would lead to this, KTLA reports.
"Stephanie was an absolute angel. She really was. … She brought so many people into my life. She’s connected so many people," model Eva Marcille told the news station. "She's just loved. She will never, ever, ever, ever be forgotten."
"No one seen this coming—because, again, Hayes is not a violent guy," Burrell Wilks, a close friend of Hayes, told the news station. "We’re all devastated. We’re at a loss for words on this one."
