Rihanna is dropping clues that her much-anticipated new album is in the (work, work, work, work, work) works.
Over the weekend, Rih posted a quick teaser video to her Instagram stories, which was, of course, immediately captured by a member of the Navy:
In the video, she looked toward the camera with the most blank and snarky slow-blink stare with a simple caption: “Behind the scenes of ‘Where’s the album?’ 5:40 a.m.”
Hilarious. She really is sick of y’all’s shit.
In short, it’s time to get prepared. This is not a drill. Or she could just be trolling y’all again. Either way.
Rih did give serious details on her upcoming album in a recent interview with the New York Times, confirming that Drake will not be appearing on the album. Additionally, while rumors she’s collaborating with Lady Gaga aren’t currently true, she wouldn’t throw out the possibility in the future.
And yes, she did directly address her fans’ eagerness for a new album and the fact that they’re not even the slightest bit skittish about informing her of their impatience. The album doesn’t have an official title yet, but the working title is obvious.
“No, so far it’s just been R9, thanks to the Navy. I’m about to call it that probably, ’cause they have haunted me with this ‘R9, R9, when is R9 coming out?’” Rihanna said. “How will I accept another name after that’s been burned into my skull?” The 31-year-old beauty and fashion mogul also confirmed her album will be reggae-based.
There’s no release date at the moment, but I’m sure Rihanna will come up with a trolling way to announce that, as well.
