R. Kelly isn’t just trash, he’s the trash compactor holding the trash.
According to TMZ, the 52-year-old R&B artist created a Facebook page entitled “Surviving Lies,” in response to the Lifetime documentary Surviving R. Kelly, which has received record ratings for the network. Sources also say he and his team are getting ready to launch survivinglies.com, which has a parked domain at the time of this article’s posting.
The page’s first target was Asante McGee, who appeared in the documentary, speaking out against the Chicago native and claiming to have been one of his “sex slaves.” The page claims she and the father of alleged current victim Joycelyn Savage are planning to extort R. Kelly.
However, Facebook quickly shut that shit down. After alleged text messages between Kelly and one of the young girls—who referred to him as “daddy”—appeared on the page, it was removed. The initial goal of the page was to supposedly expose each of the survivors, one at a time.
“The Page violated our Community Standards and has been removed,” a Facebook spokesperson told TMZ. “We do not tolerate bullying or sharing other’s private contact information and take action on content that violates our policies as soon as we’re aware.”
The shutdown was most likely due to many people reporting the page. After being made aware of the page on Twitter, several people vowed to report it, including writer and speaker Jamilah Lemieux, who participated in the documentary as both a commenter and interviewer.
So, basically, Kelly attempted to implement what appeared to be some version of a revenge porn campaign against the survivors who appeared in the documentary for daring to defend themselves and reclaim their power?
The trashiest trash.
Surviving R. Kelly’s co-executive producer dream hampton went further, calling out TMZ for its participation in the media fiasco surrounding the underaged victims.
In her tweet, hampton refers to Savage’s appearance in a seemingly coerced 2017 video where she assured the public she wasn’t being held hostage, as well as follow-up footage of her shopping with the “Trapped in the Closet” artist in May 2018.
TMZ also recently obtained 2016 concert footage featuring Savage, and fellow alleged concubines Azriel Clary and Dominique Gardner (who was filmed escaping with her mother in the doc) in the front row cheering for R. Kelly, alluding to all three girls possibly suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.
