Looks like embattled singer R. Kelly has caught a federal case.

According to WNBC News 4 New York, citing law enforcement sources, officers from the New York Police Department and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security traveled to Chicago to arrest Kelly on federal sex trafficking charges.

Kelly was expected to be transported to New York, and more details were to be announced Friday.

Kelly, 52, already faces multiple state charges in Chicago alleging aggravated sexual assault involving four women, three of them underage at the time of the alleged crimes. Prosecutors later hit Kelly with an additional 11 felony charges involving a victim or victims age 13 to 16, although it wasn’t clear if the new charges involved the people from the earlier case.

Just last month, a Chicago judge said he expected at least one of the original four cases to go to trial sometime next year. The judge ordered a tape allegedly showing Kelly having sex with a 14-year-old girl be turned over to Kelly’s defense team.

Kelly has pleaded not guilty to all charges in the state cases, which, if he’s convicted, could put him behind bars for some 30 years.
