R&B singer Michel’le is getting a chance to tell the story surrounding her life and rise to fame. Michel’le, who currently stars on R&B Divas: Los Angeles, is teaming up with the show’s producers to make Girl From the Hood.

According to Deadline, the movie will be about Michel’le’s upbringing in Compton, Calif., as well as her past relationships with both Dr. Dre and Suge Knight. Michel’le described the relationships as “one of fame, abuse and, ultimately, survival and triumph.”

Michel’le dated Dr. Dre from 1990 to 1996 and has a child by him. During an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show, Michel’le spoke about the abuse she suffered at the hands of Dr. Dre and explained that Knight wasn’t her abuser.

“Well, if it isn’t Suge, then the fingers are pointing at you, Dr. Dre,” Williams stated.

“He knows it. It was very public. It was very, very public, so that wasn’t a secret. I did five videos and we had to cover three black eyes. It seemed like the day before a video, I would get a black eye and we had to cover it,” Michel’le explained.

When Dr. Dre released his apology to the women he assaulted and abused, she didn’t think it was genuine.

“I don’t really think it’s a sincere apology,” Michel’le told the BBC. “I didn’t ask for a public apology, and I think if he is going to apologize, he should do it individually.

“Treat us like we have names,” she continued.

With a biopic in the works, it looks as though Michel’le is going to have the last word when it comes to how her story is told.
