Famed music producer Quincy Jones has filed a lawsuit against Michael Jackson's estate, saying he is owed millions in royalties and production fees on some of the star's biggest hits, including "Billie Jean," "Thriller" and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough."
In the lawsuit filed Friday, Jones seeks at least $10 million from Jackson's estate and Sony Music Entertainment, arguing that they improperly re-edited songs to avoid paying him royalties and production fees, the Associated Press reports. The music has been used in the film This Is It and a pair of Cirque du Soleil shows based on Jackson's songs, the lawsuit states.
Jackson's estate told the AP in statement that they were "saddened" by the suit and thought that Jones had been compensated for his work with the late pop star. Sony could not be reached by AP's deadline.
