Queen Sugar's Season 4 Premiered Last Night and Fam—It's Crazy! Let's Recap! In GIFs!

Queen Sugar’s fourth season debuted last night on OWN, and bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh, they came out swinging. The episode, titled “Pleasure Is Back,” takes us back to St. Josephine, La., where our favorite cast of characters are all out here with their eyes on prizes and basking in the glow of love. It seems that everybody took Kendrick’s song “Alright” to heart, stopped going back and forth with any n-words and dove head first into living their best lives.

At least, they thought so. Nova decided to come through and crush the buildings. I might actually hate Nova at this point; her self-righteousness is almost enough to make you forget that she’s kind of trash in many ways. But the shenanigans she don’ brought to the Bordelon table? Whew chillay! She started some shit, now there’s gon’ be some shit. Look, I could recap this episode in standard-issue first, next, then, last fashion. Or I could do it in a more fun fashion. When Ralph Angel got his parole papers saying he was free, I wanted to go running with him.

And hey, girl, hey, Charley gettin’ her some medical boo lovin’, massage therapeutics and boss woman awards?! Living her WHOLE best life. 

Aunt Vi don’ opened up Aunt Vi’s Prized Pies and Diner; she and Hollywood are living it up these days. Young Blue even has a corner where he sells gluten-free pies. It gets no better than this.

Even Darla came into the store, took Aunt Vi’s shade in stride, looked good doing it and had to let Ralph Angel know she’s got a date.

Is that—IT IS!!! BOOGIE’S COUSIN JUNIOR IS TEVIN CAMPBELL! HE’S READY...CAN WE TALK? I THINK WE CAN! OK, Ava! Way to deliver!!!

And you know what, even though she’s about to turn into total trash, Nova is preparing for the release of her debut book, perhaps the next great American novel, nay, memoir...Blessings and Blood. Girl, I guess.

But then Hollywood was like, WHERE’S THE CASH AT? Actually, more like...WHERE’S THE BOOK NOVA, WHERE’S IT AT? YOU AIN’T NEVER BEEN SHY. WHERE’S IT AT? WE NEED TO BE PREPARED. He was like, “Something ain’t right about that book...”

It turns out, Nova decided to tell all the family secrets about Charley and about Blue and about Aunt Vi’s life under the guise of “freeing the family from their secrets and burdens.” The book is real judgy.
