Queen Latifah is definitely in the holiday spirit and showing how grateful she was for her talk show staff. According to E Online, Latifah is making sure the laid-off staff will be taken care of for the holidays by paying their salaries out of her own pocket.
Last month it was announced that Latifah’s talk show, which is produced by Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, would be canceled after two seasons because of low ratings. “Your dedication and sacrifice was crucial to the entire team, and in the face of intense challenges,” she wrote.
“Your family, partners, staff and crew showed up with you every step of the way. Be very proud of that! Not everyone can say the same,” Latifah posted on her Facebook page after the cancellation was announced.
The show will continue to air until March, but there will be no production staff on the set. Although Latifah is no longer a talk show host, she’s taking her talents to HBO, where she will star as Bessie Smith in the cable network’s upcoming biopic Bessie, airing in 2015.
