His Royal Badness, aka Prince Rogers Nelson, will receive a lifetime achievement award at the BET Awards on June 27. Prince will join previous winners Al Green, James Brown, Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston and Diana Ross as a recipient. Prince is regarded as a musical genius and is one of the most iconic figures in the history of popular music. BET says the tribute to Prince will "stand out." We love Prince and think the award is befitting, particularly during Black Music Month. We won't hold our breaths for a "standout tribute." We've seen BET's version of "standout" tributes (Michael Jackson, anyone?), and there's usually very little outstanding about it.
