If you’ve been obsessed with Netflix’s The Crown like the rest of us, you know how far the British royal family has come in the last few decades. Nothing says this more than the fact that Prince Harry, grandson of Queen Elizabeth, has brought his biracial girlfriend home to meet the family.

No, Meghan Markle has not yet been introduced to the queen, but the 32-year-old British royal did take the 35-year-old actress to Kensington Palace to meet Kate Middleton and niece Charlotte last week, The Sun reports.

Markle and the Prince had reportedly just returned from a sexy vacay to see the Northern Lights in Norway.

Middleton, who celebrated her 35th birthday the day before, came to London with her baby girl to size up Harry’s boo. Prince William, who had met Markle already, was reportedly also there.

The report notes that because Harry lost his mother, Princess Diana, when he was only 12, he relies on Middleton as a motherly influence, so the visit is a bit more than just bringing his gal pal to meet his sister-in-law. Dare we say this was like bringing her home to Mother?

Though we don’t yet have a public photo of the two together, the ginger British royal and the petite founder of lifestyle blog The Tig confirmed their relationship in November after the British press had a field day with the pair, with veiled racist commentary about the rumored affair.

At that time, the palace issued a rare statement telling the press to, in the words of Barack Obama, “cut it out.” The statement read in part,

His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public—the smear on the front of national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.

As reported previously by The Root, the statement went on to say that Prince Harry is worried not only about his girlfriend’s privacy but also about that of her friends and family, and is disappointed that he “can’t protect her.”

During the visit, Markle reportedly played with baby Charlotte and brought the princess a small, appropriate birthday present—“a very smart leather-bound ‘dream diary’ for her thoughts and ideas”—which the princess is said to have loved.
