We're sure that when Jay Z rapped about having 99 problems, he didn't see one of those eventually being Prince's music. Jay Z's Roc Nation and Tidal are being sued by Prince's estate for allegedly illegally streaming the singer's music. According to the Star Tribune, Roc Nation is being sued for copyright infringement, and the lawsuit claims that Tidal has been illegally streaming the late musician's catalog.
Although Prince made a deal with Tidal in 2015 to stream his music, including his new LP, Ht N Run: Phase One, the lawsuit states that shortly after Prince's death, Tidal began streaming other Prince material for which it did not receive permission.
NPG Records says that there was no deal in place to stream any other music from Prince's catalog.
According to TMZ, the list of songs that Tidal did not receive permission to stream is three pages long. The lawsuit did not specify the amount of damages it's looking to receive.
