(The Root) — The White House started a Tumblr account last week, stepping up its effort to be accessible to the American public. According to the blog's first post, it will feature a variety of material, like "the best quotes from President Obama, or video of young scientists visiting the White House for the science fair, or photos of adorable moments with Bo."
Judging by the first few posts, we can expect important things like policy and "wonky charts," but fun things, too, like this shot of President Obama wearing his wife's bangs from the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
In the interest of being "the most open and accessible administration in history," followers of the blog are encouraged to submit stories, opinions and questions as well.
The launch of the White House Tumblr follows the creation of the White House's Vine account, which currently features videos from the White House Science Fair.
