It's #PowerThursdays, and we dedicate this week to Kanan—the former kingpin on Power (played by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson). He is back, and still committed to reclaiming his throne.

Under the tutelage of Kanan, Tommy (Joseph Sikora) and Ghost (Omari Hardwick) have prospered in a nefarious, bad-guy sort of way. The brothers in crime have since parted: Tommy’s running the streets, and Ghost wants out. But this isn’t cool with Kanan. Sounds as if season 3, which premieres July 17, will be chock-full of drama. Popcorn—please pass the popcorn. Season 3, here we come!

Offscreen, 50 Cent has always known that Power would be a success. Still, this is like nothing else he’s ever experienced. “This is new success for me," Jackson says. "This is Get Rich or Die Trying, but from a television perspective." As the show’s executive producer, he works closely with Courtney A. Kemp, who is also an executive producer, as well as the show’s creator.

“I always knew that as a woman of color, I had a responsibility to, once I got there, do it right,” Kemp told The Root. With the show's burgeoning success and legions of fans, it’s safe to say that Kemp has fulfilled her responsibilities.
